Virgil Hughes Financial Advisor
Virgil joined the Centennial Wealth Advisory team in April 2024 after spending the previous 10 years in wealth management in Chicago, IL. Having built financial plans for hundreds of clients over the years he has learned a lot about concerns individual clients have when it comes to money. Along with our physical health and well-being, financial concerns are top of mind for most Americans. A couple of quick Google searches will provide some startling statis tics. “72% of Americans reported feeling stressed about money at least some time in the prior month.” (American Psychological Association, November 2023) That means most Americans not only feel stressed about money, but they also felt that stress within the previous month. “61% of Americans age 50 and up say they worry they will not have enough money in retirement” (AARP, April 2024).
People often ask Virgil why he choose a profession as a financial advisor. He can provide the answer quickly and it isn’t too complicated. He sees a need for competent financial advisors who will operate with integrity. The financial stress for clients is very real and Virgil loves being able to provide straight forward solutions that provide peace of mind. Virgil loves crunching numbers and getting into the details of a client’s plan, but nothing beats seeing the results of those numbers play out in his client’s everyday lives. The real-world impact for each individual client and being able to be a part of their journey is why Virgil choose his profession.
Even though Virgil is new to Centennial Wealth Advisory, he has over 10+ years of experience as a financial advisor. Virgil holds his Series 7, Series 66 as well as life and health licenses. He graduated from Taylor University with his BA in Business in 2002. Even though he has been working as a financial advisor for over a decade he is still excited as he was on day one to provide well thought out and practical solutions for every client.
When not meeting with clients or working on solutions for their financial concerns Virgil will probably be outside. He has spent much of his life since graduating from Taylor University living in Chicago, Illinois. Even though he didn’t move to Gaylord, Michigan until the end of 2023 he is familiar with the area. He has family members that have called Northern Michigan home for over 30 years. Virgil is excited to now be putting down roots himself. Virgil has been visiting and vacationing in Northern Michigan his entire life. He is passionate about fly fishing, hiking, and almost anything that can be done outdoors. He is excited to explore all the natural beauty that the region offers.
Virgil is looking forward to the privilege of sitting down with you and walking through the financial concerns that are causing you stress. The unknown can be scary, that is why having a trusted person come along side you is so important to help you so you too can retire well.
